It can create a contact and linked opportunity from a lead, and log notes, tasks, and events against the right record. Most general integrations lean read-only, so write actions need a purpose-built connector.
Can Claude advance an opportunity through the pipeline in Insightly?
Claude can advance an opportunity through the pipeline in Insightly and update its value, but moving a stage is a gated write action. Claude proposes the change and prepares the updated fields, and the stage only moves after you approve it, so nothing in your pipeline shifts by surprise.
Can Claude get more access than my own Insightly login?
No. The connector authenticates with a scoped Insightly API key and inherits exactly the permissions tied to it, never more access to your CRM than that key already has. Read and write tools stay separated, and you can revoke the key at any time to cut off access immediately.
How an Insightly connector works
We build a small MCP server that authenticates to Insightly with a scoped API key over its REST API. Read tools (search records, read a record) and write tools (create, update, advance stage, log activity) are separated, and actions that change a pipeline or send anything outward require your confirmation. Claude only ever has the access your own Insightly account already has, and we can add IP allowlisting where your plan supports it.
