Full read-write Claude connector for Productboard

Let Claude log feedback and update features in Productboard

Stop tab-switching to file the feedback that just landed in your conversation. Claude pushes the customer quote in as a note, links it to the right feature as an insight, and updates feature status and priority where your roadmap already lives.

Productboard is a product management platform where teams collect customer feedback, prioritize features, and shape roadmaps. People want Claude to do more than read what is in there: to log feedback as notes, create and update features, and link insights to the work they inform.

What is a Productboard MCP server?

A Productboard MCP server is a small hosted service that exposes Productboard's data and actions to Claude over the Model Context Protocol, so Claude can tasks, projects, and docs inside your own account. We build it as a custom connector with separate read and write tools, and destructive actions stay gated behind your approval.

What can Productboard's current connector do today?

Today, Productboard does not ship a first-party Claude or MCP connector, so any setup relies on its public API. Most lightweight integrations stay read-leaning: Claude can surface notes, features, and roadmap status, but creating notes, updating features, and linking insights usually need a purpose-built connector with scoped write access.

What does full read-write Productboard access unlock?

Full read-write Productboard access lets Claude push a customer quote in as a note, attach it to the right feature as an insight, create or update features and their status, and set prioritization fields, all from the conversation where the feedback surfaced. The triage that used to mean tab-switching happens where the roadmap already lives.

  • Create a note from customer feedback and tag it for triage
  • Link a note to an existing feature as a supporting insight
  • Create a new feature or component under the right product hierarchy
  • Update a feature's status, description, or owner
  • Set or adjust prioritization fields and scores on a feature
  • Search across notes and features, then propose where each insight belongs

Can Claude create notes from feedback in Productboard?

Yes. Creating notes from feedback works through a custom connector: Claude takes a customer quote from your conversation, files it as a note, tags it for triage, and attaches it to the right feature as a supporting insight. Lightweight read-only setups can only surface existing notes, not create them.

Can Claude update a feature's status in Productboard?

Updating a feature's status works through scoped write tools: Claude can change a feature's status, description, owner, or prioritization fields and scores. These are gated actions, so Claude prepares the update and it is applied only after you approve, keeping create and update separate from read.

Does Claude get more access to Productboard than I have?

No. Claude gets no more access to Productboard than you have. The connector authenticates with a scoped API token and inherits exactly the permissions that token carries, never broader access to your workspace, notes, or roadmap. You can narrow or revoke that token at any time.

How a Productboard connector works

We build a small MCP server that authenticates to Productboard with a scoped API token over its public API, using only the access the work needs. Read tools (search notes, list features, read roadmap) and write tools (create note, link insight, update feature) are kept separate, and create or update actions can require your confirmation before they run. Claude never has more access to your workspace than your own token already grants, and the server can sit behind IP allowlisting if your setup calls for it.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude create notes and link them to features in Productboard, not just read them?
Yes. A custom Productboard connector exposes write tools for creating notes and attaching them to features as insights, so feedback you paste into a conversation lands in the right place. Lightweight read-only setups can surface existing notes, which is why creating and linking needs a purpose-built connector with scoped write access.
Will Claude change a feature or its status without my approval?
No. Create and update actions are separate, gated write tools. Claude can prepare the change to a feature's status, fields, or description, but it is only applied after you approve it. You decide which write actions run automatically and which require a confirmation step first.
Does the connector get more access to Productboard than I have?
No. The connector authenticates with a scoped Productboard API token and inherits the permissions that token carries. It never grants Claude broader access to your workspace, notes, or roadmap than the token itself already allows, and you can revoke or narrow that token at any time.
