DocuSign ships an official MCP connector (Open Beta) that can already create and send envelopes for signature today, working from your existing templates. Direct file uploads are the documented limit, not sending. A custom connector adds what the template path leaves out: custom field placement, non-template workflows, multi-account control, and per-action human-in-the-loop gating.

How a DocuSign connector works
We build a small MCP server that authenticates to DocuSign with OAuth 2.0 and the narrowest scopes the work needs. Read tools (look up envelope, list recipients) and write tools (create envelope, place fields, send) are separated, and outbound or destructive actions like send and void require your confirmation. Claude only ever has the access your own DocuSign account already has.
